Smithville, TN

Here we are, our visit to our friend in AL did not happen because of a prior commitment to her family. Undaunted we drove on to a Corps campground near Smithville, TN with the idea of seeing some new country. We drove up to one place and it did not open 'til the next day so we drove to another. We were tired and wanted to get stopped. As we approached a bridge under construction and ignoring the sign of only 10 feet clearance, we pushed on. Well, I side-swiped the side of the trailer. Wrecked our whole day.

The hole has been covered with duct tape to keep rain out.

The door hinge was scrapped too.

This will have to last 'til the end of May.

We are unhurt and the damage does not look that bad, it just effects our use of the awning until we can get it fixed at Jackson Center, OH after our KY caravan.

We are in a beautiful park and the people are very nice. We walk and nap and I think we needed this place. In Rome, GA we had trouble getting up early enough to see things, this morning we actually got up before 7 a.m. and allergies are not as bad here. All spring everything was covered with yellow pollen.

Nice place. The house way up on the hill belongs to Billy Ray Cyrus.

This house has pillars and is owned by Alan Jackson for all you country fans.

The place is hilly and we do get our exercise.

It has rained every day here, but it has been relatively cool and that has helped. Plans are to rest a few days then head back to Nashville and see the things we missed last time there and to miss solid objects, like bridges. Pulled this thing over 100,000 miles and this is my first accident that was my fault. Just can't drive down a tube with only 14 inches of clearance. Reminds me of an airline pilot on a flight check. Was asked the wingspan of the plane, he didn't know. Then asked how high the tail was, he didn't know. Finally the FAA inspector said he should know those things and the pilot replied, "they pay me to fly this thing, not drive it through a tunnel."
