The final banquet for our Springtime in Kentucky was a blast. It was held at the Boone Tavern in Berea, the town where we had visited the college previously. It is a 5 star restaurant and the dinner was not a disappointment in any way. After a great dinner and a great final program we all said our goodbyes and headed back home for sleep and a change of attitude from caravanning.
Next day we did not leave until around noon-ish, as we were only planning to drive about 100 miles and arrive at Jackson Center on Monday, so by the time we left most everyone else had departed. One thing led to another and around lunch time we were back to the Horse Park where we had stayed near Lexington. So we stopped for lunch. Here we took a final picture of the sign out front that we never seemed to have time for while we were here.
Next we decided to drive near Cincinnati since it was Sunday maybe we should drive through the city because Monday's traffic would be horrendous. Next we decided to drive on a little further because it was a nice day and traffic was no problem. Next we ended up at Jackson Center to get our rig serviced and repaired on Wednesday.
Being early, I tried to get them to take us on Monday or Tuesday, but they were booked up. With time on our hands we explored a town we have become pretty familiar with the last few years. Things don't look so good here, they have lost their only grocery store, their only pharmacy, a pizza parlor, a motel and a greasy spoon restaurant. We have seen no police either that were visible on our last visit. But they have gained a take out pizza and ice cream place. The Shell station is now a Marathon. The town is still friendly and clean so hopefully things will turn around for them here.

We are now waiting for our mail which has not come yet and trying to decide what to do and where to stay for the upcoming holiday. We drove to a lake yesterday which is already full for the three day weekend. If the mail does not come or if we cannot find a site to camp we will stay here and go see where Annie Oakley lived and is buried.
Never a dull moment. Lots of new friends here and two of our Springtime in Kentucky friends just left headed for home.
