Last day at TOG

Our last day in Helen, GA and at TOG was Easter. We decided to make it for the sunrise service, and wouldn't you know it, the weather turned colder. So wrapped up in our warmest, we drove the 6 miles to Helen. It was dark, but we found people setting up chairs etc. so we knew we were at the right place.

As we waited for the service to start we were entertained by a lady playing accordion a not too often played instrument anymore, but definitely German. While we waited, it seemed everyone there knew we were strangers and came to introduce themselves.

By the time the service started we were sufficiently cold, but the minister, who had already introduced herself began a very enthusiastic sermon, so the cold was not as obtrusive as it might have been. After the service our plan was to go home, eat, then come back for photos because of the crowds we had encountered in previous visits.

Well, the people would not let us leave, we had to go to their church and eat with them. It was all prepared and there was lots of it. So, we went. It was good, the people were very nice and we felt welcome. Needless to say, there were some German accents and even another "guest" was from Hungarian, and therefore had an accent too.

A tourist in Helen, GA.

If you have ever been to Solvang, CA this looks the same.

Yep, this is in Georgia.

Beer, German food, and lots of shopping.

And a river runs through it.

This is Easter morning. Later it will be filled with folks eating.

The horse has a bunny on his back. Later traffic will be backed up for miles.
After church and brunch, we did our photo op, and headed home to prepare for our departure on Monday.

See Ya! Barry and Shirley
